HUD Income Limits for Housing Assistance Programs
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) publishes income limits each year that housing authorities use to determine eligibility for housing assistance programs.
What Are Income Limits?
Income limits set the maximum household income for eligibility in Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs. The limits vary by:
- Household size
- Geographic area
- Income category (extremely low, very low, low)
How Income Limits Affect You
Applicants: Your household income must fall within the applicable income limit to be eligible for housing assistance. Income limits are based on area median income (AMI) for Peoria County.
Current participants: Changes to income limits may affect your eligibility at annual recertification.
